Spencer Spears joins us to discuss his brand new series, Rebel Hearts, which is a spin off of the Murphy Brothers series. Spencer shares why he decided to continue writing about characters living on Summersea Island, and why he loves to write and read series. He also talks about writing three holiday stories in 2020, how he got started writing romance, and that a camboy romance is something he really wants to write.

Spring awards season has arrived. Jeff and I want to congratulate the finalists of the Romance Writers of America Vivian Award, including two authors of m/m romance who’ve written some of our favorite books from the last couple of years, LaQuette for Under His Protection and Philip William Stover for There Galapagos My Heart.

Author Anna Zabo joins us to talk about Cinnamon Roll, their installment in the Bold Brew shared universe series. Zabo shares the origins of characters Max and Tom and how they wanted to write a BDSM story that was full of kindness. What We’ve Been Reading Recently – BGFP episode 302

Jeff and I kick things off this week with a discussion of some movies we’ve watched recently. We really loved the HBO documentaryTina, the comedy Late Night starring Mindy Kaling and Emma Thompson, the kick-ass Amy Poehler-directed Moxie, and documentary The Last Blockbuster.

Debut YA Author Robbie Couch – BGFP episode 301

Debut Sci-fi Author Everina Maxwell – BGFP episode 300

Jeff and I celebrate 300 episodes of the podcast and make a big announcement about the show’s future (hmmmm… whatever could it be?). We also discuss how we’re thrilled by the return of The Great Pottery Throwdown to HBO Max, and the queer representation in season 4.

Jeff talks with debut author Everina Maxwell about her sci-fi adventure romance Winter’s Orbit. They discuss Everina’s inspiration for Prince Kiem and Count Jainan as well as how Everina balanced the romance, sci-fi, and suspense elements. She also talks about the story’s earlier incarnation on Archive of Their Own, what got her started as a writer, and what’s still to come. Everina also has a book recommendation.
