Jeff chats with author Sara Dobie Bauer about her new adult, rom-com, horror story This is Not A Horror Movie, which also happens to be this month’s Big Gay Fiction Book Club selection. We talk about where the characters of Emory and Connor came from, as well as all of the horror movie references Sara uses in the story. We also get details on Sara’s love of romance and horror, why it’s important to her to include mental health themes in her book, and what’s coming up next for her.

Christmas Comes Early: An Interview With Author Roan Parrish – BGFP episode 338

To kick off the holiday season, Jeff and l welcome author Roan Parrish. The conversation starts with Christmas and Roan’s holiday romance The Lights on Knockbridge Lane. The book, the third in the Garnet Run series, is the first time an m/m romance has been a part of a Harlequin series line. Roan talks about the romance between Adam and Wes, writing about pets that aren’t cats and dogs, as well as writing her first ever ‘cute kid’ character.

Shifting gears to Halloween, we discuss Roan’s Audible Original Strange CompanyThis collection of creepy short stories includes a mix of old and new stories perfect for the season. Roan shares her love of Halloween and scary things, as well as the experience of working with her girlfriend, Timmi Meskers, who composed the music for the production.

Jeff and I are thrilled to present a conversation that took place between authors Frederick Smith, Chaz Lamar Cruz and Adriana Herrera. The event was part of the book tour for Frederick and Chaz’s book Busy Ain’t The Half Of It. Adriana talked with Fredrick and Chaz about the book and their co-writing experience, including how the process changed since the first book they wrote together. They also discussed reading and writing books with Black characters, the importance of diversity in books and media, and the impact Lil Nas X has had on music and pop culture.

Jeff and I kick off the show with the announcement of the Big Gay Fiction Book Club selection for the month of October: This Is Not a Horror Movie by Sara Dobie Bauer.
