Late Summer Reading and Book Recommendations – BGFP episode 202

Jeff and I begin this week’s show with a recap of our recent trip to Orlando for the Podcast Movement conference, which was both fun and informative. We also discuss recent announcements about the new Love, Simon series on Disney+ as well as the potential Hollywood deal that Lucy Lennox and Sloane Kennedy revealed this week. (Sooo exciting!)

The guys talk summer TV with BH90210 and Grand Hotel. I review Silvia Violet’s second chance romance Anticipating Rejection, while Jeff reviews King Slayer by Layla Reyne.

Lisa from The Novel Approach recommends some speculative fiction and romantic suspense, including Spellbound by Allie Therin, The Marked Prince by M.A. Grant and Triangulation by Gregory Ashe. She also mentions Swipe Right for Murder by Derek Milman, which she had recently begun.

Podcast Movement Wrap-Up – Big Gay Author Podcast episode 7

Jeff and I spent the past week at Podcast Movement, and came away with a number of things authors can learn from podcasters. We begin with a chat Jeff had with Joanna Penn from The Creative Penn Podcast. He gets her thoughts on the conference and her top three takeaways for authors. We talk about other things we heard and experienced during the conference that writers can relate to their business, including tips from Pat Flynn, Patrice Williams and Bryan Orr.

Books For Authors – Big Gay Author Podcast episode 6

In this episode Jeff and I explain how we had to put on our business hats this past week (without going into any detail – sorry). I share things I learned from three books: The 10 X Author by Sean M. Platt and Johnny Truant, How to Write Fast by Sean M. Platt and Neeve Silver and On Being A Dictator by Kevin J. Anderson and Martin L. Shoemaker. I wrap up this week’s show honoring Toni Morrison with two inspirational quotes for writers.

It’s Our Bicentennial! – BGFP episode 200

This week Jeff and I celebrate the 200th episode of the podcast! Wether you’ve been with us since the beginning, or have just started listening, we’re thankful that we have the opportunity to share the books we love with you each and every week. We also announce the launch of a brand new show, Big Gay Author Podcast!

We review the Broadway productions we saw during our recent New York City trip, including King Kong, The Cher Show, Frankie & Johnny in the Clair de Lune, The Prom, and several others.

The 2019 Romance Writers of America National Conference is also discussed, including the romance podcaster panel, RWA’s diversity initiatives and the RITA Awards. Powerful speeches delivered from the RITA stage by Radclyffe and LaQuette are featured as part of the recap.

ANNOUNCING – The Big Gay Author Podcast!

I’m happy to announce that Jeff and I have launched a brand new podcast, The Big Gay Author Podcast!

This new show will detail how Jeff and I attempt to make the transition from part-time, to full-time authors of gay fiction. You can celebrate our successes and learn from our mistakes. New episode will drop every Saturday and, don’t worry, the Big Gay Fiction Podcast isn’t going anywhere. Episodes of Big Gay Fiction will continue to come out every Monday.

In the premiere episode of the Big Gay Author Podcast, Jeff and I talk about our experience at the Romance Writers of America 2019 National Conference. We discuss our impressions of the conference, our opinion on if RWA is a good fit for writers in the gay romance genre, plus we offer up some of the things we learned from the workshops we attended.

We hope you’ll join us on this new adventure!
