It started as rain yesterday and took along time to turn over to snow during the day yesterday. Last night the snow in Manhattan wasn’t that impressive (at least by my standards), but over night and into today it has been a good ol’ snow storm! Here are some images from around town (click on [...]

The morning started with a nice snowfall, an inch or two fell between 7 and about 10:30. I was in midtown around 11 and they were clearing it fast up there for tonight’s Times Square madness. Here’s a few pictures shot downtown this morning around 9. I suspect anything else that falls today will be [...]
The thing to do downtown over the past day has been to go see what there is to see of US Airways 1549, which was brought down to lower Manhattan and tied off to the seawall just north of the Battery Park City commuter ferry terminal. Obviously the police are keeping people and a distance, [...]

I’ve been in Chicago since yesterday for work. There is a good deal of snow on the ground and more fell overnight. Here are some pictures I took this morning at my hotel in Lombard (a Chicago suburb). My favorite pic is of these icicles! Here are the rest (click on the thumbnails to see [...]

We had some very lovely snowfall this afternoon. Right around 1 the sky opened up with some of the largest snowflakes I’ve ever seen (can you say mutant snowflakes?). I went up on the roof of the office building and shot some video and you can see some of these super large flakes for yourself. [...]

Sounds like some kind of sale, right? Sadly it’s not. Today is the first day of what is forecasted to be a four-day heatwave. Ick! (A heatwave is officially defined as three days or more with temperatures over 90 degrees). Today it hits 91 and tomorrow through Tuesday it’s headed for 95. With the humidity [...]

We’ve had windows open the past several days and nights. I love sleeping with the windows open when it’s like this. It’s on the cool side, but it makes perfect [...]

What an amazing day! After a very, very foggy start, the sun came out and it was in the mid-70s today. An all around perfect spring day. I spent lunch time in Bryant Park (this is not a picture from today, but certainly representative of what today was like…including no one on the grass because [...]

Going to bed last night, we had a winter weather advisory posted from the National Weather Service. That basically means, “hey, it might snow or sleet in the next day or two.” Lately these advisories don’t mean much. This morning its turned into a Winter Storm Warning, which means “significant amounts of snow… sleet… and [...]

The New York Sun reports that this January is the first in 75 years that there has been no measurable snowfall in the city! According to the paper: The National Weather Service monitoring station located at the Central Park Zoo has recorded only two other Januaries since records began in 1869 where no measurable amount [...]
