It was a great New Year’s Day for hockey. The NHL played the second Winter Classic this afternoon from Wrigley Field in Chicago. It was an awesome game with the Detroit Red Wings beating the home team Chicago Blackhawks by a score of 6-4. It was a nail-biter too because Chicago dominated the game [...]
Fantastic game tonight. Pittsburgh gave Detroit a run for their money, but Detroit brought it home with a 3-2 game. It’s been a thrilling run for the Cup this season. I can’t believe how lucky I was to have my two favorite teams in the finals and for my hometown team to take the cup!

The Stanley Cup was out of its case being polished and then the Pittsburgh Penguins struck back!
Around 5 minutes to go in the third the Detroit Red Wings pulled ahead in game 5. Then with 35 seconds to go, the Penguins got one past goalie Chris Osgood to tie up the game.

What’s surprsing is that both games were shutouts: 4-0 on Saturday and 3-0 tonight. The series moves to Pittsburgh on Wednesday and Saturday [...]

[...]
I haven’t been this excited about conference finals in a few years now. My top two teams have made it through: Pittsburgh in the East and Detroit in the West. Few things hockey could make me happier than to see those two in the finals in a couple of weeks. The hockey action gets started [...]
The brackets came out this morning for the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs… this time it’s the conference semifinals. There are some stunning match-ups!
It’s been a great Stanley Cup Round 1 for the teams I’m into.
