Happy HalloweenHappy Halloween!

I don’t usually write specific to Halloween. This year, somehow, I did it… and did it twice.

First is a Flash Fiction piece I wrote for Flash Fiction Friday #8 that I submitted over to Vitality’s Halloween Queertacular. I love the concept of Vitality, which is why Will and I backed its Kickstarter. I’m thrilled they became fully funded ahead and look forward to seeing how they accomplish their mission: “Vitality is a literary magazine publishing exciting, entertaining fiction featuring queer protagonists. What we hear people asking for, most often, is more stories featuring queer people – and not just serious, often depressing ‘issue’ work dealing with the hard stresses of real life, but fun stories that happen to be about queer characters, and portray queerness in a positive way.”

You can read my entry in the Halloween Queertacular, entitled “Halloween: Wrapped or Unwrapped, or you can check out Vitality‘s minizine, which I encourage you to do.

Second comes a piece of Hat Trick flash fiction. I write a monthly guest post for Sam Kadence. This month was about Halloween and it occurred to me that I’ve never written a Halloween scene for Simon and Alex. So, I went back into the timeline of the first book and sent Simon, Alex, Jackson, Leo and their friends to Central High’s athletic booster club Halloween Carnival. Consider it “The Hat Trick Halloween Special.” You can only read it over on Sam’s blog. I hope you’ll head over there and check it out.

Enjoy!
