This Writer’s Life - We’re Hip
According to the latest issue of Writer’s Digest, LGBT literature has finally “arrived”. Um, okay. The article mainly focuses on the mainstreaming of the genre and how it has slowly begun to reach a wider (i.e. hetero) audience. It’s nice that the piece takes a “half full” view of the future of LGBT books [...]

This Writer’s Life - Updates
Okay, it’s been forever since I’ve talked about what’s going on with my writing. Truthfully, there hasn’t been a whole lot going on, but here are a few updates anyway. My story Partners, which was to appear in the anthology Superqueeroes, has been put on hold indefinitely. The publisher was sold and the fate of [...]

This Wirter’s Life - The Non-Writing Edition
Well, it’s been quite some time since I’ve mentioned any writing projects. The reason for that is that life has gotten in the way in one form or another since early June. I didn’t write in June primarily because of a back injury. It hurt really bad, but after two doctor visits and a series [...]

Writing Ins and Outs: The new issue of The Project for a New Mythology arrived in my mailbox this week, featuring my story “Mindgames.” That was exciting to get. Meanwhile, I found out the story I submitted for the Touched anthology was rejected, so I’ll start looking for a new home for that story.
Potter-mania: Sometime [...]
This Writer’s Life - Anticipation
Well, it seems Haworth Press won’t be releasing the Superqueeroes Anthology (featuring my story “Partners“) until the Summer of 2008. Oy. Until then, here is some gratuitous superhero beefcake courtesy of artist Glen Hanson.

“Mindgames” Accepted!
“Mindgames” the story that narrowly missed getting into Superqueeroes got accepted this week into Project for a New Mythology, a quarterly literary journal with a stance on artistic social mindfulness. The issue with “Mindgames” gets printed later this month, so I’m very excited to have my first non-The First Line credit.
Thanks to Brian for posting [...]

A couple weeks ago I mentioned how there were so many conflicting priorities going around, and this week is no different, but at least it should be a fun week with this stuff going on:
There is lots of hockey this week. I’ve got two days of Bluestreak training ahead, and only five sessions left overall [...]

Conflicting Priorities

Wow. There is too much stuff going on, and it is of my own doing too.
I managed to get the first draft of a story I want to submit to Touched done this morning. Touched, from Haworth Press, “a queer-themed fantasy anthology of spells and magic, focuses on the mysteries of spells and gives readers [...]
This Writer’s Life - J.M. Snyder
I haven’t blogged in a while because my writing life has been less than optimal lately. But I did want to quickly mention that I just finished reading a novella by J.M. Snyder, an author who will also be appearing in the upcoming Superqueeroes anthology. Much of Cowboy concerns the love triangle between sad-sack Kent, [...]

This Writer’s Life - Procrastination
Category: Writing |
I debated whether I should write about this in a post. I eventually decided that life isn’t really about failure or success, it’s about what you learn along the way. You may remember an earlier post where I mentioned a short story I was working on. Well, the deadline for the anthology has come and [...]
