I don’t have a good grasp on the current music scene. Every now and then though something catches my ear and I become obsessed with it. Such is the case of “Bang Bang” by Jessie J, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj.
The first time I heard this was in the opening of So You Think You Can Dance on August 6 when the top 10 did a group number to it. The dance, a colorful burst of energy, was great and the song was infectious between the beat and the fierce vocals.
By the weekend, I’d put the track on iTunes. I’ve also become a fan of the video, which is fun and has some pretty good eye candy too.
Today, thanks to Towleroad, I’ve found a trio of guys (Sam Tsui, Max and Kurt Schneider) doing an awesome cover, which I’ve also downloaded from iTunes.
How long will this obsession go on? Hard to say, but right now I’m enjoying this song a lot and wish I had some sense of rhythm because it seems like it’d be a lot of fun to dance to.

I recently downloaded Kelly Clarkson’s new Christmas album and only just discovered her cover of that semi-holiday/Sound of Music classic, “My Favorite Things”. Kelly really sells it and with the lush orchestration reminiscent of a swinging 60’s holiday TV spectacular. Check out the yule log video below!
The Kia Soul has always been an ugly car. The new and improved model doesn’t change that, but watching the Kia hamsters give themselves a makeover to the tune of GaGa’s Applause is pretty cute nonetheless.
