Question of the Week Episode 22 Responses:
While listeners can leave comments on the website each week, answers come in from various other platforms as well (and we can only read a few answers on the show). Here are all the responses we got to the question “Do you listen to audiobooks? Why or Why Not? And if so, what’s a recent favorite?” Thanks to everyone who took the time to answer.

• Dawn: I only recently discovered Audiobooks, because as an author I wanted to see what it was all about. I discovered Greg Tremblay and my fav book so far is Black Dog Blues by Rhys Ford narrated by Greg. I am in love now with Audiobooks and listen to them as much as I possibly can when driving, (It’s my day job) I just wish I’d known about them years ago. Catching up now though.
• Patty: I love listening to audio books. I have an Audible account. I find I listen mostly to biographies but if I find someone whose voice I love, I will download additional content just for the reader. I loved Fangirl By Rainbow Rowell read by Rebecca Loman.
• Donna: My main form of entertainment is listening to audiobooks . I havent owned a television in over ten years and even though I own plenty of movies, I’d rather listen to a book. When I’m cleaning, cooking, working, walking, riding, I’m listening. I have hundreds of books in my Audible library and my favorites to listen to are Rhys Ford’s Cole McGuiness stories and the PsyCop series by Jordan Castillo Price. I could list for days, but these are my go-tos.
• Gillian: I don’t currently listen to audio books. I’m not a big fan of TV, so I imagined that I wouldn’t like audio books for the same reason I don’t enjoy TV shows. However, as I have been first a fan of radio, then podcasts, and also trying to move away from a desk based lifestyle, I’m getting interested in audio books. Part of the reason I haven’t tried them yet is that I don’t drive or commute to my place of work, so it is harder to work it into my schedule, but my new flatmate is a fan, so I hope she will share!
• Angela: I don’t listen to audio books, I prefer reading myself that way I can use all my imagination on how a person looks, and even talks. I always think (and maybe I’m wrong) that listening to audio books will spoil that for me. However I think it is very important that there are audiobooks available for people who for some reason can’t read themselves or simply enjoy them.
• Julie: I have listened to several audio books but didn’t like them. I agree with Angela because while reading a book I have my own way that the character will look and talk. Audio books just didn’t do anything for me.
• Eileen: I have recently discovered audiobooks and I love them! I have a very long commute every day, and I find it makes me more relaxed sitting in traffic when I can listen to a book. Interestingly (or maybe not), I have to listen to a book I have already read. I can’t focus enough on a new book. Listening to a book after I have read it seems to bring out different elements in the story for me, so it feels new and different. I loved (loved, loved) Tere Michaels Faith & Fidelity as well as anything written by A.M. Arthur. I am currently glued to The World As He Sees It.
• Laura: I don’t listen to audiobooks because I don’t have a device that can do that.
• Katie: They aren’t my favorite but I’ve started listening more, because something different from music at work is nice every once in awhile. I tend to only listen to books I’ve already read so then I know what’s going to happen and don’t miss anything. Tell Me it’s Real by TJ Klune is my favorite. Although the audio bugs me sometimes because since I’ve met TJ the character of Paul has his voice in my head and that’s not what the narrator sounds like.
• Anna: Love them! Listen when I drive or when I clean. My house has never been cleaner and the daily commute has been more of a breeze. Roadworks? Bring it! Morning congestion? Who cares, one more chapter! I have narrators I love, and will listen to most anything they do. Iggy Toma (does all of Heidi Cullinan’s books) is one, Dave Gillies (has done quite a few of Renae Kayes books) and Julian G. simmons reading Whyborne and Griffin series by Jordan L. Hawke is a must-listen.
• A: I do not usually listen to audio books as I think it is easier for me to place myself in the story whilst reading the book.
• Denise: I don’t generally listen to audio books. I really don’t travel much and I love to look at words. Weird I know. One of the last audio books I listened to was Harry Potter almost 10 years ago. Jim Dale does a wonderful job with all those characters.
• Kim: I love audiobooks but the price is horrendous.
