Yesterday we saw The Temperamentals and kicked off Gay-playapooloza, which also includes Yank! and Next Fall.

There was a two week gap in the schedule between Yank! and Next Fall and we’re happy to report that we’ve filled that in.

On Sunday, March 7 we see Alexi Kaye Campbell’s The Pride, which won Olivier Awards during its run in London last year. The play stars Hugh Dancy, Adam James, Andrea Riseborough and Ben Whishaw and takes place in both 1958 and the present. In the show, Oliver, Philip and Sylvia are caught in a kind of time warp. In 1958 Oliver and Philip are attracted to each other, but can’t act on it. In the present, the two have just broken up. Joe Mantello directs the production for MCC Theater.

On Monday, March 15 we’re attending an all-star reading of Valley of the Dolls. Check out this cast: Charles Busch as Helen Lawson, Heidi Blickenstaff as Neely O’Hara, Tovah Feldshuh as Miriam Polar, Cheyenne Jackson as Tony Polar, Martha Plimpton as Anne Welles and Christopher Sieber as Ted Casablanca. There’s more casting to be announced, including who plays doomed Jennifer North. This is a one-night only fund raising event for The Actor’s Fund. While this isn’t a play like the others in Gay-playapooloza, it’s campiness and cast qualifies it to be here.
