Ailey II began in 1974 as the Alvin Ailey Repertory Ensemble when Alvin Ailey initiated a workshop composed of the most promising scholarship students from The Ailey School. Ailey II continues to be a training ground for dancers coming from the school while contributing amazing performances to the world. “Movin’ On” has become one of its signature pieces.
