Yank! A WWII Love Story

in Theatre

Yank! A WWII Love Story, a musical that just opened at The York Theatre Company, was the excellent second installment of our Gay-playapooloza series. The musical has been in the works for a while, premiering in 2005 at the New York Musical Theatre Festival followed by a production in Brooklyn in 2007 and a San [...]

Tigers Beat Polar Bears 6-1

in Hockey

The Tigers started a stretch of games against the Polar Bears with a 6-1 win. I’m glad we bounced back so decisively from our lose last week to the Sled Dogs. Scoring was nicely spread around last night as well, which is always good to see.
I was pleased with my game last night. While I [...]

28 Days of Dance: Day 28 – Madonna “Music Inferno” (2006)

in Geek Out, Music

Madonna always features great choreography in her videos and stage shows. Nothing drew me in though like the roller skating extravaganza that was the “Music Inferno” performance from 2006’s Confession’s Tour. It’s simply sublime and, I think, a great way to wrap up 28 days of great dancing! Enjoy.

Tomorrow the count down to the new [...]

in Current Events, Life in General, New York

It started as rain yesterday and took along time to turn over to snow during the day yesterday. Last night the snow in Manhattan wasn’t that impressive (at least  by my standards), but over night and into today it has been a good ol’ snow storm!
Here are some images from around town (click on the [...]

If I could travel back in time (using a Delorean, the Tardis or a Stargate, whichever is handy) I would totally go see this.

28 Days of Dance: Day 26 – “In The Heights” (2008)

in Geek Out, Theatre

When In The Heights premiered on Broadway on Valentine’s Day 2008 it brought a fresh, young vibe to Broadway. It also brought some hot choreography from Andy Blankenbuehler, who won a Tony Award for his efforts. Here’s a clip from “The Club” number that shows off his skills. You’ll note a similarity in theme here [...]

28 Days of Dance: Day 25 – “Cats” at the Tonys (1983)

in Geek Out, Theatre

This clip could get me in hot water because so many people things Cats is a joke. It was among the first musicals I saw in live and it stuck. I’ve always liked the “Jellical Songs for Jellical Cats” number and it’s got some pretty groovy cat dancing too. Here is the Original Broadway Cast [...]

28 Days of Dance: Day 24 – “West Side Story” at the Tonys (2009)

in Geek Out, Theatre

The revival of West Side Story knew better than to mess around with a classic. They recreated Jerome Robbins’ original choreography for the new production. Here’s the Broadway revival cast dancing up a storm from the 2009 Tony Awards.
