The Creative Arts Emmys were handed out last night and among them was the Best Choreography award. Five of the six nominees were great (and sometimes postively stunning) pieces of work: From So You Think You Can Dance there was “Bleeding Love” from Tabitha and Napoleon, “Mercy” from Mia Michaels, “Adam and Eve / Silence” from Tyce Diorio and “A Los Amigos” from Dmitry Chaplin. Dancing with the Stars was represented with “Jive / Great Balls of Fire” from Derek Hough and Julianne Hough.

What won? The sixth nominee… the big ol’ mess that was “Musicals Are Back,” choreographed by Rob Ashford, from the 81st Annual Academy Awards. Remember that late-show number with Hugh Jackman, Beyonce, Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Amanda Seyfried, Dominic Cooper??? Yeah, me either… such a disaster I blocked it out of my memory.

Very disappointed right now in the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
