Bike PathYou know how in the Terminator movies there’s usually at least one effects shot where you get to see through the Terminator’s eyes as he’s looking for his target? There’s that little targeting bullseye moves from person to person in his field of vision and eventually the words “Target Acquired” come up.

This is how I feel riding.

I’m looking all over the place, constantly acquiring targets. What are the people on the sidewalk doing? Is there anyone in the cars parked along the street getting ready to do something like open a door or come into traffic? What are the cars in the lane next to me doing? Are any of them about to turn left and, therefore, become a hazard to me?

It’s a lot to keep up with. I hope my brain doesn’t explode with all this extra data!

On Tuesday one of those targets waved at me. It was great to find Mike along the Hudson River path. He was out for a run and I was on my way home. It was nice to catch up for a few minutes since we hadn’t seen each other in a couple weeks.

The rest of the week was a normal ride. I defied the rain on Thursday by waiting a few extra minutes before I left for work to let the morning rain pass. I got a little soggy going home, but nothing too bad. I did have to bail completely on Friday’s ride because it was morning to night rain. Next week will be another one to dodge the rain as there’s a small chance of rain most days next week. Oh well, I’m getting better at reading the radar and plotting what’s going on, so I’ll just work that out each day.
