OMG! A gay movie that dosen’t suck! I just watched East Side Story and I really liked it! It’s about a guy in East LA who feels trapped by his family obligations. He wants out, but falls for the gringo who has moved in next door. The movie covers some of the same issues brought up in Quiencienera (another great movie btw) but handles them in a more lighthearted way. The supporting characters are larger than life (aunt Blanca/Bianca is a hoot) and the love story between the two leads is really sweet. It’s obvious that there wasn’t a huge budget, but the story and characters (as well as a talented cast) more than make up for any lack in cinematic polish.
