Stanley Cup 2008: Round 1 Wraps Up

It’s been a great Stanley Cup Round 1 for the teams I’m into.

After a nail-biting turn in Nashville during games 3 and 4, Detroit game roaring back strong in games 5 (in Detorit) and 6 (in Nashivlle). Yesterday afternoon’s game (at least once I found where it was on the dail since the local NBC affilate was covering the Pope’s visit—thankfully MSG+HD picked up the game) was thrilling to watch. You could tell from the first minutes that Detroit was there to finish the series. In particular their goalie, Chris Osgood (pictured getting congrats from his teammates), was awesome with a shutout yesterday and only allowing a single goal in game 5.

The Pittsburgh Penguins also has a great first round, sweeping Ottawa in four games. And Montreal is going into a game 7 tonight against Boston. I hope they make it through because it would be great to see them continue after a couple of clunky years.

Round two gets started later this week (there are still two other series, out in the West that get settled tomorrow). GO WINGS! GO PENS! GO HABS!

  2. Jeff said,

Sorry… how could I forget to mention Bonk! Bonk is a player on the Predators. Will in particular got kind into his name… since I was anti-Predators I didn’t mention Bonk in the post… even though it was an excellent name for a hockey player.
