Quite an evening on the East Side of Manhattan… just like a summer disaster movie!

The left picture shows the explosion area on 41st Street between 3rd Avenue and Lexington… this picture is nearly an hour after a steam pipe exploaded. The picture on the right is after the smoke cleared, near 8pm. You can see a truck in the bottom of the hole that was created in 41st Street. Happily we live and work on the West Side and this isn’t an impact for us, though the commute home was awful for a lot of people because the major East Side subway was shutdown (and the incident area is just a couple blocks away from Grand Central Station).
