Every now and then I talk about some other sport in this blog and this post is going to cover three: football, swimming and wrestling and one extraordinary young man who played all three at his high school.
I read about Anthony Castro this morning on Towleroad (here’s the full Towleroad article) in an obituary. He [...]

Last night saw both the Ordinals and Tigers win their games!
The Ordinals had the first game of the night, going against the Wizards. I always enjoy playing the Wizards because it’s an even match up and usually a close game. Last night was no exception. The final score was 3-2 in our favor and the [...]
Today is Paul Newman’s birthday. Turner Classic Movies will be celebrating the occasion by running several of his best performances. I recommend that you rent two of his soapiest (and therefore campiest) films. In The Long Hot Summer, Paul plays a southern boy who woos the frosty Joanne Woodward. In From the Terrace, Paul plays [...]
Check out the new NHL uniform that makes its debut tomorrow night in the All-Star Game. That’s All-Star Sidney Crosby modeling the new uniform, which he has been raving about this week in the activities leading up to the All-Star Game: “With me, a lot of times I have problems with pants like on the [...]
From a game perspective it was not a good night. The Tigers lost to the Hornets 7-2 (at least I think that was the score, it’s not posted yet so I’m not 100% sure). The Tigers had some good moves and I think we would’ve scored more except we weren’t always in the right position. [...]
Be sure not to miss one of the trashiest movies ever! The Legend of Lylah Claire will air on TCM on Monday 1/22 at 12pm est. Mousy Kim Novak is made over to resemble the “legendary” title character and is eventually possessed by her foul-mouthed spirit. Directed by Robert Aldrich, this one is pure camp [...]
I’ve just completed my first short story in about four years! It’s a superhero story for an anthology with the tentative title of Superqueeroes. Will found the call for submissions a couple weeks ago and I wrote most of the story last Thursday and Friday. I just put the finishing touches on it this morning. [...]
Sigh.
Apparently it snows everywhere but here. I talked to my friend Dave in Plano, Texas last night and got to hear all about the LaBounty snow day! They had enough snow to make a snowman! So, since I can’t post pictures of my own snow, I’m borrowing their pictures instead.
The snowman they built.

The weather continues to be weird. All weekend it was in the mid-40s, drizzly, foggy, cloudy and generally icky. Yes, it’s better weather than the Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, area where the icy winter storm has been, but it’s also not proper New York January weather.
The NHL All-Star game is two weeks away (Wednesday, January 24) [...]
BNP has always been difficult for the Ordinals and last night was no exception as we lost 6-2. We played well. I’m pretty sure we had more shots on their goal than they had on ours, but they caught all the right breaks and we didn’t. One of the keys I think with us was [...]
